House Clearance Advice.
There are some things to be aware of when seeking house clearance services. This is just useful information to help you make an informed choice.
- Ensure you are getting a quote from a correctly licenced house clearance company. All house clearance companies must be Upper Tier Waste Carriers. The Upper Tier carriers number is identified with the letters CBDU prefix. Any other prefix will not do. You can check any company you hire by visiting The Environment Agency Website Public Register of Licenced Waste Carriers.
- Ask where the stuff will be taken. Don’t be afraid to ask where the stuff is going to. Look for signs of hesitation and uncertainty. If anything ends up fly tipped, and you have not checked the waste carriers status, you are equally liable for any potential fly tipping.
- Beware of “Cash Only” operators. And Never pay any money up front EVER!
- Get everything in writing. The quote showing the price, and an invoice followed by a receipt once paid.
- Check the company has current house clearance contractors liability insurance too. This is crucial if people are working inside your property. Any reputable house clearance company will be happy to show proof of this before starting work.
